Condom, condoms, and more condoms…
Just about everyone thinks they know what a condom is. That may be true. But how many really do?
For those who know (but really aren’t sure), the condom is a soft sheathing device designed to block a male’s ejaculate from entering the body of a sexual partner.
Condoms
• are made out of latex or polyurethane or lambskin
• come in different sizes and colors
• with or without a spermicidal solution (sperm killer)
• are either lubricated or not
• are made for both men and women
Male condoms are normally rolled up in individual foil packets and have very simple but specific instructions for use.
Female condoms, also called femidoms, are designed to be inserted into the vagina before intercourse. They are larger and wider than male condoms (but the same length) having a flexible ring-shape at the opening and an inner ring that help keep it in place.
Sex happens! Condoms are simple, discrete, inexpensive and easy to use, and offer the first line of defense against STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) and can help prevent unplanned pregnancy.
The fact that condoms are elastic, waterproof, and durable makes them ideal for other applications as well.
